Hello. I've sketched a small chicken coop, 1200 x 1600 for the garden. Today I've drawn with 45x70 but am considering if it's a bit overkill and maybe 45x45 would suffice. Or do you think it will be too flimsy? It will be insulated but not that much, so from that perspective, 45 should suffice, then there will be 12 mm plywood as the inner wall and horizontal paneling on the outside, so maybe it will be stable enough. I will attach wheels underneath to make it somewhat movable (not on a daily basis) if we have to change its location.
I'm no master at SketchUp but here's a little picture.
Will the roof be tongue-and-groove boards and felt?
Will you cover the inside with sheet material?
If the extra cost isn't an issue for you, it's probably good to use 45x70. It would likely be sturdy with 45x45, but with a larger dimension, you won't have to worry about it.
Let the "beam" at the ridge rest on the short stud on the short side and not on the side as it does now. It's probably not a bad idea to also replace the "beam" with 45x95 even if the length is only 1.6m.

I mainly want to keep the cost and weight down, which is why I'm considering decreasing the dimension. This will be my first time with chickens, so it might not be for many years if it's not our thing. Yes, the roof will be tongue and groove planking and felt, and plywood on the inside.
Good tip about the ridge beam. I was thinking of keeping it and the top chord of the "truss" at 45x70 even if I reduce the main frame. But maybe it's better to have 90 on the beam then.

With plywood on the inside, 45x45 should do. The trickiest part will probably be the bottom if you're also going to have wheels on it.
Good luck & share pictures when you're done
