I am going to build a basement wall 300mm where 1.5 meters are underground. What is the difference between Leca block and Leca murblock? I asked in their online chat but only got the answer that Block is a newer version, then the chat disappeared.

  • Block 300 are hollow, can withstand more load, and seem to be laid only horizontally (it says thin joint mortar in the manual). Compatible with the masonry box that I will later use for Isoblock as well.
  • Murblock 30 is massive/solid and should be fully grouted (vertical/bed joint). Slightly lighter than Block 300.

Seems to be mostly advantages with Block 300 or am I missing something?

Since I don't have any ledge in the slab, I plan to drill a reinforcement bar in each lower block, which even the hollow ones seem to facilitate. I was thinking of just driving the reinforcement bar into the slab and then putting in a dab of concrete in the hollow block.
