Hi

Is there anyone here on the forum who knows the difference between a "regular" drywall for walls and a GDS board, besides the price?

Is it that it is not fire-rated?

I bought plasterboards at K-rauta in Örebro, and the information I received was that the GDS board lacks a "spackeldike" (joint). Instead, it has a rounded edge. The gap that forms when you place two boards together is filled with a special gypsum-based filler sold for these boards. I was going to use the boards for something other than walls, without a filler joint, so they were perfect for me. Otherwise, they were the same. Apparently, it's a way to quickly install plaster on surfaces that do not require a super finish.

I thought it was the difference as well until I looked more closely at them at Bauhaus and there both the regular and GDS boards had a filling edge.
