I will use recycled lumber for beams and studs. Removing every nail is time-consuming. It's faster to cut them with a grinder. Now I'm wondering what is usual in such a case.

Thank you for the answer. I was wondering if you cut it, there's still part of the nail left. If the nail rusts, does the rust affect the wood material?
 
No, not directly. It's not uncommon for nails to sit in wood for many years without any negative effects.. :) And you are going to use the wood for similar things that it's already been used for, as I understand? Of course, you can leave the nails if you want.
 
Just don't try to split up the demolition wood, it's no fun at all.
