Hello,

I have purchased a plot with an old house consisting of blue concrete. We are going to demolish the house to build a completely new one on the exact same spot where the old one is currently standing. We also know that the existing house consists of blue concrete in the basement parts.

My question now is whether it is "OK" to use parts of the old basement, foundation, slab to build a new foundation for a new house without a basement (it will be a crawl space for the new house). Or does all the blue concrete have to be removed?

I am asking the question to know how to set the requirements for my contractor who will perform the groundwork. Personally, I would obviously want to remove everything from the old house.

Thankful for a response!

First check if your blåbetong emits radon; it is not certain. If that's the reason you need to demolish it, that is.
I have non-radon-emitting material in my basement.

There is no blue concrete that does not emit radon gas...

TS: If it really is blue lightweight concrete in the foundation and you are still tearing out such large parts, there is reason to remove all material that is made of blue lightweight concrete. The question is whether there are other reasons that suggest a completely new foundation...?
