Deck railing on concrete slab where water collects
I have a deck on a concrete slab (see attached image). Below the railing on the outside, snow and water accumulate, causing water to be absorbed into the wood.
I have an idea to install a window sill (undersill) at the bottom. I assume that you need to cut a groove in the wood and nail the sill in place, and seal with silicone. Does the idea sound reasonable or is there another way to do it?

The picture is just part of the deck. One part is glazed and now we're going to glaze the rest of the deck. Don't want any gap at the bottom.P Plutus said:
If you want wood all the way down to the concrete, it doesn't matter what you do, it will rot. It's not the rainwater that's the culprit; it's the damp concrete. There are metal brackets that are a few cm high, then you can saw off a few cm of the fence, attach the metal behind the wood, and the rainwater will end up outside, the gap won't be visible, or you can fill it from behind with something that doesn't absorb water.
