I'm working on cutting "tops" off stones, lowering them about 10-15 cm below the surface, and it's going great with an angle grinder and diamond blade, as well as wedges. I've taken my time to avoid overheating the blade, but I eventually pushed it too hard and the blade seems to have become a bit oval, as it now "bounces" somewhat, which reduces cutting capacity, so that blade will be discarded.

So my question is if it's possible to cool with water during cutting or if that reduces cutting capability? I could test, but I'm unsure if it might lead to other "risks" like the blade catching, etc.

Besides the splashing and getting wet, I can only see positive aspects of sprinkling water where you cut. The blade is likely to be much better off because of it.

When we redid the roof a long time ago, we did it like this:

Please use a residual current device....

If you are using a regular electric angle grinder, there should be an improvement in cutting technique with water supply. BUT the angle grinder itself is most likely sensitive to water.

tried with the image to show that there are large blades that are cooled with water.
does a garden hose work for your brukar or make a mathiass solution?

and of course a residual-current device.

All "real" machines for cutting stone and concrete have water cooling for the blade, so I can guarantee that it doesn't deteriorate the cutting ability. But as mentioned, be careful with power tools that are not designed to get water on them!
 
Thanks for the quick response, I'll try with water cooling and make sure to connect the RCD, and also keep the angle grinder away from the water spray:)
 
I would take the water hose and let it slowly run over the stone.
 
I have also used water. It was very good for cutting, and even better regarding the dust.

But not quite as good for the machine. I'm actually embarrassed (I usually go on about electrical safety), when I had been cutting for a while, it started to tingle in my hand. The gloves were soaking wet. Obviously, I got a leakage current in me (however, protected by ground fault circuit interrupter). I should have stopped, of course, but I just switched to dry gloves. Then after 3-4 more cuts (cutting several 30mm granite tiles) I stopped for the evening when it started to tingle again.

I used a grinder with a 130mm disc, the machine was bought at Rusta for about 200kr. When I had only one cut left (160cm long), the machine broke down after about 50m total cutting.

I thought now it’s time for a slightly more reputable machine, settled on a Ryobi for 1200kr. It broke after half a cut. After dissection, it turned out that the brush holders were too tight, so the brushes were stuck very hard, therefore it became glitchy. Junk brand!

I went and bought a new machine again very cheap, Lidl had a campaign at that time, great machine for 299 kr, if I remember correctly. Much better to use than Ryobi as well. But now I have stopped using water.

The diamond blades are so cheap, especially in the smaller sizes, that I wouldn't risk my life with watering. I have used blades dry for several days for cutting granite before they wore out. Be careful not to apply too much pressure so the blade gets hot, gets distorted, or jams, because the blades don't like that. The dust is obviously not fun. For your own health, a P3 mask, preferably a full mask, is needed. Bushes and buildings turn gray if you do a lot of cutting. A windy day with the wind blowing in the right direction is good :).
