Is there any problem with cutting away the sill in the doorway? The wall is the one that was previously a load-bearing exterior wall, but after the house was extended with the room in the background, it is now a load-bearing interior wall. Does a load-bearing sill on a concrete slab take up any lateral loads or similar? Or if it has any other important function in the construction.
