I am going to install a 32mm polycarbonate roof and the height at the back of the ridge is a bit tight.

I am wondering if it is possible, and how much I can notch the laminated beam at the eaves without compromising the strength???

I am thinking of notching 50-70mm and after the eaves the beam should be horizontal.
See image for some explanation..

Diagram showing a glulam beam (56x225mm) with proposed notching at the foot, dimensions and materials for reinforcement indicated.
Suggestions are welcome...

Now this isn't my subject, but I guess (!) that if you're going to cut 70 mm out of a 225 beam, you might as well use a 150 mm directly.

I have seen on various constructions where there is a notch at the ends of the rafters, but they might be a bit over-dimensioned to handle it.
No one else who knows or has any smart solution...

It is entirely possible that I am wrong. The beam is supposed to withstand two forces. Firstly deflection, where your solution works. Secondly shear, and there it is probably as I say.

Cut-outs at the support can be made.
However, I dare not say how large...check the wood guide...
