We have had an inspection of an object, where parts of the basement's exterior walls consist of blue lightweight concrete, which was "glued" together around 1967 without reinforcement or mortar.

According to the inspection, the cost could range from 200,000 - 1,000,000 to remedy. The worst-case scenario would be to excavate on the outside, support the house wall, and replace the exterior basement walls with new material.

Someone we've spoken to says we should turn around and run as fast as we can. Another says it's not so bad, perhaps. A third suggests reinforcing with fiberglass on the inside and outside.

The advice from the inspection was to find a company with masons and constructors who can make an assessment and provide a quote for the job.

But which companies can do such work? Is it even worth the time to invest in this house?

Why do you need to fix it, other than aesthetically?
