Hello.

A construction company renovated the living room with drywall on the walls and ceiling (there was wallpaper on the wall before). We have been hanging laundry on a portable "clothes hanger" that can be folded out. Now a crack has appeared on the drywall, about 10 centimeters. The laundry room is being renovated, so it can't be used. We wash 3-4 machines per week.

Does it have anything to do with the laundry?

I should add that the laundry is almost dry when we hang it up. It's about 1 meter to the wall that has cracked.

The renovation was done 2 years ago. The drywall is 6 mm thick.

Could a dehumidifier possibly solve the problem?

I hope someone can help me determine whether to complain to the company or if the laundry is causing this.

It is unlikely that the next dry cleaning could damage the plasterboard.

Take a picture of the damage, and it will be easier to provide comments.

Ok. It's painted over. Can't be seen. We probably painted over it with thin paint.
I made a mistake about the laundry, it's wet, not almost dry.

You don't think the laundry affects the boards.

Have bought a dehumidifier to dry the laundry faster. Is a dehumidifier worth having when the laundry room is ready? The laundry room is in the basement.

What is behind the renovation plasterboard?
Some wood that has become unusually heated during the summer and therefore shrunk unusually much, or that it has moved a lot in some other way behind the plasterboard so it couldn't withstand it?

Were wallpapers. Must have been plasterboard.

If there were wallpaper on plaster, it sounds unusual to put up renovation plasterboard, as renovation plasterboard is usually only used if there are large irregularities. How old is the house?

Plaster is very stable and is affected very little by moisture and heat.
