Hello,
I removed all the layers of wallpaper that were in a room on the ground floor of the house and discovered this crack in the wall joint at the gable end. I can easily insert the entire blade of a putty knife. Should I be worried? How can this be sealed? Does it need to be addressed in another way for the stability of the house? The right wall is the short side of the house, and we often hear creaking from that part, especially during the summer. Could there be a connection?
Is this a hidden defect?
The house is from 1973 and the wall is presumably made of blåbetong (?). We moved into the house last summer.
Many questions, but very grateful for any advice I can get.

You shouldn't be worried. Such cracks are common. I would fill them with filler or similar and then just paint or wallpaper over. I was also advised to fill them with latex since the house is probably moving and it will crack again. My house has many cracks in the basement and at first, I had trouble sleeping because you always feared the worst. In the worst case, you deal with the problem when it arises and nothing more with it
my house also creaks a bit in the autumn.
It sounds reassuring that I don't need to be worried.
however, it's still a bit concerning that the wall has come loose like this.
Does your house also have a concrete frame? And do you also have a brick facade? I'm thinking that something in that combination along with this crack might have something to do with the creaking...
