We have a floor area of 30sqm. The floor is only 10 years old but has yellowed and 3 children have played on it constantly. We have sent out inquiries to companies, but how much would we roughly pay for this? Should it be waxed afterwards too? We will buy the wax.
I sanded 20 m2 myself a year ago. I rented an Edge floor sander (It's square and takes significantly less than those with a drum, easier for beginners) and got 5 different coarse papers with it. Rental for a weekend, a little over 3000 SEK including everything. (Very expensive). Then I bought 2 cans of floor lacquer for 1500 SEK at Bauhaus. Roller, brush, protective gear, vacuum cleaner bags, and a few other things add up to 1000 SEK. That brings us up to 5500 SEK. Then it takes 2 days for one person to do the job. 16 hours for 6-700 SEK. It becomes expensive......

I probably spent 9 hours sanding. A good pair of noise-canceling headphones and some solid LED lights kept me company 'in my head' ;-)
Vacuuming and wiping went quickly in the evening, then an extra vacuum in the morning and on with the first layer, took just under an hour. Then the same thing again on day 2.
I must say it was definitely worth sanding myself. There are many threads here about dissatisfied customers. I don't have a showroom floor, there were a few small mistakes here and there, but it still looks magically beautiful. Better than when I installed it in 2004.
