I hope I can get some feedback on the next big project, the Workshop Project or as it's called at home, the barn project...
Since I want better ceiling height in the workshop, I will remove the intermediate floor and have full ceiling height there.
The length of the beams is 7 meters, and the space width is 9 meters. The plan is to build up with leca to place the beams on. The idea is also to be able to attach a crane to the beams.
So the questions:
What do you think about the setup, will it be good, how would you do it?
What do you think the dimension of the beam might be? (will check with a constructor too)
Should you build some kind of truss in the rafters?
Have you done something similar and have any tips to share?
It is difficult to have any opinions on such a complicated construction without being a professional and without having the whole picture clear. And we certainly don't want to give unfounded advice that will later prove to be wrong
But a small thought: They live in a rather snowy part of the country. How can the trusses you've designed withstand the snow load without pushing the long walls apart? That's one of the main functions of the intermediate floor you plan to remove.
It's best to consult the engineer before planning further! I guess a different truss construction is needed.
