Hi, we have a 1½-story house built in 1936 where we need an additional bedroom on the upper floor. Currently, there's a larger bedroom with two alcoves on one gable, which we would like to split in the middle and remove the walls into the alcoves. We expect to have someone come by to check the structure, but we thought we'd ask if anyone could make an educated guess.
In the attic, you can see parts of the roof trusses, but there is only a "triangle" consisting of a horizontal beam at the height of the ceiling on the upper floor and the beams that the roof rests on are visible.
Sorry for my clumsy sketches, but the current floor plan in red, desired in green. In the section, we want to take down the walls in red and put up the one in green.
Anyone dare to speculate about the possibilities and/or the construction of the roof trusses?
