Connection between wall and ceiling - what is best to do?
Hello,
I'm renovating the inside of the garage, the walls have received OSB + single gypsum board. The ceiling has been paneled and will soon have single gypsum board installed.
All electrical wiring is in place and will be hidden behind walls and ceiling. I don’t want a ceiling molding, but wish to find a durable solution between the wall and the ceiling. What’s the best way to prevent cracks from forming at the transition between wall (osb+gypsum) and ceiling (gypsum)?
Paper tape? Sealant like MS-polymer? Both? Should there be a gap between the ceiling gypsum and wall gypsum to create a 5 mm wide movement joint, and skip the paper tape? Has anyone tried aquabead flex pro for this purpose? Realize that it’s impossible to achieve a durable result and accept ceiling moldings?

I placed an angle profile in sheet metal or aluminum at the transition between the ceiling and wall. Attached it to the wall's OSB, then screwed both the wall and ceiling drywall into the profile. The drywall was installed flush against each other, no cracks yet after 1 year at least. The corner was caulked with a movement joint after the first layer of paint and painted over with the second layer.
Yes, an angle profile in aluminum would probably be preferable if I hadn't already screwed in the OSB, gypsum, and spackled afterward
I will take that into account next time.
