Concrete
No, I've just realized that I probably don't trust my own ability. It seems like there are a million different recipes for mixing proportions and types of ballast. I guess I'll have to go with concrete bags instead so that I can just follow the recipe on the bag. I don't want the plinths to start crumbling or something.ktm250 said:
A follow-up question, how long and carefully must you protect the concrete from water?
I have dug the plinth holes and in some of them, a bit of water is seeping in. Now the ground is probably quite soggy since it has rained a lot, so I hope it disappears with better weather, but it might be good to have a plan B in readiness.
(Incidentally, I hit rock in seven out of eight holes, so it will probably only take half as much concrete as I expected.)

Actually, you don't need to protect anything, but it doesn't hurt for it to cure undisturbed for a few hours....Bigfoot said:A follow-up question, how long and carefully do you have to protect the concrete from water?

(By the way, I encountered bedrock in seven of eight holes, so probably only half as much concrete as I expected will be needed.)
