I have read a bit here and also heard from elsewhere that in cases where you plan to build something that isn't so sensitive to insulation (in my case a storage shed), you could use pool stone (which I've understood is actually called concrete block) instead of Leca. The reason would be huge price differences. I have heard of people who bought concrete blocks for five kronor each, which corresponds to about 25% of the cost of Leca.

However, I have not been able to verify these differences myself, I have not found concrete blocks that are significantly cheaper than leca.

Can someone clarify the concepts for me and maybe give me some tips?

Another question is whether Byggmax has stopped carrying their own Leca blocks, their website doesn't seem to list the blocks anymore.

Thanks in advance.

hmm, that's the only one I found too, previously there was a long list of blocks, now it just says "lös lättklinker" and a price, which doesn't tell me much, 60 liters? previously there was a neat list with, for example, 19x19x59 cm blocks for x kr.

"Loose lättklinker 60 liters" are not blocks but bags with lättklinker beads.

ktm, exactly, but do you know if they have stopped selling blocks, or if they have just given up on the idea of keeping the website updated?

Isn't it just to call ByggMax and ask? It must be the fastest way to find out the answer :)

Hello!

We are currently experiencing some issues with our website, which has caused some of our products to disappear. Murblocken are still part of our range.

But my original question about betonghålsten vs leca and costs remains...

I looked a bit at my price list from Tranås Cementgjuteri. 7.50 + VAT per piece for 20cm wide stones, 13.5 pieces/m2 ==> 126kr/m2 including VAT.

Lecablock 19cm wide 21kr/each, 10 pieces/m2 ==> 210kr/m2

Sure, it's cheaper with concrete hollow blocks but you should insulate outside if you want heat... LECA has a slightly better u-value.

Now it’s a storage room I’m going to build that isn’t so dependent on insulation (or not at all, I had thought). I also live in southern Skåne. BUT, it is definitely a factor if there is “only” a 40% difference in price. I had received indications of much, much more, perhaps a price per square meter for concrete blocks down to around 45-50 SEK/sq m, then it would have been a different situation. Now it's leaning towards Leca instead.

We’re having a housewarming party in the spring, can we ask guests to bring Leca blocks? They can drop them off outside the door, and we’ll pay for the storage walls that way :) Hmm, why stop there, let the guests do the masonry maybe...
