Hello knowledgeable people!

I'm planning to hang a clothes rod from the ceiling for outerwear. It's plastered, single-layer, and there are no studs where it's supposed to hang from.

The clothes rod will be hung on two hooks. Would you recommend Molly plugs for that, or should I cut open, add a stud, and then patch it up again?

Thanks.

New studs for the clothes rail to be attached to. Because I don't think the plasterboard itself can hold that much load. In principle, it should withstand if someone stumbles and automatically grabs the outerwear to break the fall.

Thank you!

Okay, darn I was hoping to avoid that... But at the same time, I’ll regret not doing it properly the first time when bad luck strikes. Thanks for the answer and the push to do it properly.
