A huge amount of dust is coming down from upstairs. But now we want to hang clothes under the stairs so we want to close the risers(?). Either make them completely sealed or leave a 5 cm air gap at the top of each step. As long as the dust doesn't have a clear path.

What should I use? Preferably nail them in with brads and then use a quarter-round behind so they can't be accidentally kicked away.

Any tips?

  • Open staircase with visible gaps between steps, paint cans and tools scattered on the floor, wall with floral wallpaper on the left.

Yes, there are pre-made options to buy, alternatively, you can buy mdf or laminated board, cut to size, and paint.

It's easier to put full boards under the stairs, so it becomes completely tight.
