Hello guys!
In my extension, it's now time to finish the wall where I will later install a wood stove. The wall is a standard wood-framed wall with plywood and gypsum as the inner wall.
Is it okay to have gypsum even behind the brick? And how do I secure the brick to the wall?
I was thinking of driving long screws into the wall that stick out a bit and embedding the heads in the future brick joints. Is this a proven method, or are there better ways?

Hello, I believe that the chimney sweep often requires at least a decimeter between a wooden-framed wall and a newly erected chimney. It's best to check with your local chimney sweep so you don't get reprimanded.

The brick is solely for decoration and a substitute for an expensive silicate board. In other words, I'm killing two birds with one stone.
The flue pipe will go straight out through the wall and up on the outside of the house.

Is the brick a chimney or just a fireproof backdrop on the wall?

In that case, you can go ahead and brick in front of the plasterboard. You secure the bricks with ties that are attached to the wall and embedded in the joint. 4 pieces per sqm is an old rule of thumb.

Aha, that's a different matter!
