I am going to mount Cembrit Multi Force 9mm on steel studs in a garage. The Cembrit screw available at Beijer had too long of an unthreaded "neck," so I was recommended another screw (see image). Before I put the screw into the first real board, I tested a bit with a scrap piece and a loose stud. Unfortunately, it seems like the thread and head of the screw completely destroy the board before the screw threads into the steel stud. Was I just too careless, or is it the wrong kind of screw?
Maybe you are applying too little pressure so the screw spins out of the hole, and make sure the board does not move, and it must be absolutely flush with the base.
Try with a bit.
Ok, then I have to thank you for the answer and conclude that there is nothing wrong with the screw but my handling...
I will give it another try next weekend. It might be smart to pre-drill the first holes so you don't have to hold the board in the right position while trying to get that done.
