Hello everyone!
I'm sitting and brainstorming about our upcoming patio build and am wondering a bit about different types of wood. I don't want pressure-treated wood for many reasons. But what else is there? I've been considering larch, but I've become really fond of cedar! We have a newly plastered house in light gray and I think the "color" of cedar would fit in very well. How much does that timber cost? Is there any other type of wood that can be treated to resemble cedar?

Just emailed a company in the Gothenburg area that specializes in cedar wood. Hopefully, I'll get a price list
A question: There's a special oil for cedar wood. Shouldn't it be possible to treat another type of wood and achieve similar results??? Anyone with experience in this?

Rule of thumb, cedar costs 3 times as much as regular pine timber.
Keep in mind that cedar darkens significantly during the first two years... When new, it is light, colorful, and nice, but after a couple of years, it almost resembles neglected teak.

Cedar wood costs about 380 SEK per m2 if you want shingle panels and about 500 SEK per m2 if you want tongue and groove. Cedar wood will gray if it is not treated (oiled). Cuprinol has a cedar wood oil. If the oiling is maintained, the wood retains its luster.
Gutte! What is the color number of your newly plastered house?

Koho11: The color of the plaster was developed by the company that sprayed the facade. They sprayed a small section and then we got to say if we wanted it lighter or darker. So they didn't use pre-colored plaster; instead, they mixed it with plaster and lime. We could have gotten pre-colored plaster according to the NCS number, but we chose to do something "unique" instead. And it turned out really well ;D
