Good day!
Here's the situation:
I need to cast a number of small foundations on-site at a cabin in the middle of the forest, where I don't have access to water. I've been thinking back and forth about how I should go about the issue of water, and I finally came up with the idea of placing a barrel nearby and simply letting it fill with rainwater.
Now to the question: Can I use rainwater for concrete?
I've always always heard that you shouldn't use saltwater when casting, but what happens—and what is the result—if you do use it after all?

Rainwater contains no salts such as Sodium chloride and Calcium chloride. When it is said that one should not cast with saltwater, it refers to seawater. The salt affects the reinforcing bars, causing them to rust.
The requirement is that the water has a pH value over 5, so if you have very acidic rainwater, it can negatively affect the casting. Test with litmus paper, if it's okay, go ahead.
