Hello

We are planning to install a fireplace. As you can see in the picture, the plan is to shorten the wall by the portion that is marked. The house has an uninsulated slab with a raised floor (aware of the issues with the construction). The idea is to open a hole in the floor (about 1 m2) and pour a foundation of EPS concrete and then lay tiles. The advantage is that we can install the fireplace before we change the floor, and if in the future we need to redo the entire foundation, we won't need to move the fireplace.
Any thoughts on these ideas?

How heavy a fireplace should you have? When you say stove, I imagine something weighing under 200 kg. If that is the case, I think the easiest solution would be to just place it on the existing floor and then move it when/if it's time to redo the rest of the floor. However, if it's a heavy fireplace, it sounds like a good idea to do as you describe.

Wall removed and opened up hole in the floor to pour concrete in preparation for tile. Floor with a hole prepared for concrete work, tools scattered around, and a purple bag covering a pipe. Floor with cut-out section and tools like a vacuum, spirit level, and drill, preparing for concrete work and tiling in a renovation project.

Time for EPS cement. It was a really nice material to work with.

Old thread but,

Is it possible to place a 300kg stove on self-leveling EPS cement? The floor is an intermediate concrete joist. Nivell construction.

hi tiger79!

Did you manage to find the answer to your question somewhere? I have similar concerns right now.
