Casting before winter and raising after?
Hello,
we aim to pour the slab for our vacation home in October/November (building permit estimated to be ready by the end of September). The plan is then to erect the house (small blocks) at the end of April/beginning of May. We are building in Jämtland.
Are there people in the forum who have experience doing this and have encountered problems, or has it worked well? Is there a significant advantage to waiting until spring?
Thanks in advance.

The important thing is to ensure that the concrete has time to cure sufficiently before it freezes. Of course, this can be solved with insulation or heaters depending on the temperature. We cast the concrete in November and did not erect the frame until March/April.
Depending on how the "cement crisis" develops, it might be wise to delay the casting until spring. Currently, there is great uncertainty about the availability of cement this fall due to Cementa's permit in Gotland expiring and not being renewed.

ok, we'll simply keep a dialogue with the construction guys to see how it develops. Thanks for the answer!N NoOne2k said:The important thing is to make sure the concrete has enough time to cure before it freezes.
