After tearing out the floor and other things in the basement room, I found a hole in the concrete near the door jamb to the adjoining room. My guess is that there was a wooden plank there when the slab was poured in the 70s. There were traces of wood residue in the hole. The cavity extends straight down to moist gravel.
My question is, what type of concrete should I use to fill the hole?

  • Hole in concrete floor with traces of wood, near a wooden edge, illuminated by a LED floodlight.
  • Concrete floor with a hole near a doorway, showing exposed rough edges and nearby pipes. Evidence of wear and trärester visible in the damaged area.

I would have just bought regular coarse concrete - those ready-made bags that have "everything" and you just add water - and mixed it in a masonry bucket (trolley).
The hole looks quite small, so that should be the easiest way.
