Can you turn brackets however you want?

Hello,

I am planning to put up a pine shoe rack (78cm wide / 20cm deep). I am thinking of using two "classic" brackets from Habo/Classe measuring 12.5 x 15 cm. To place the shelf at the height I want, I would like to place the short side of the bracket against the wall and the long side under the shelf.

1) Is it possible to do that, or will I sabotage some built-in balance in the steel bracket by having the short side against the wall? (I remember that the long side is usually placed against the wall.)

2) Habo's page states that the bracket can hold 30kg, does this also apply if I invert the bracket as I want to? I am using 5 cm screws with 6mm plugs in a concrete wall.

3) If the above suggestions work, could I get away with using a smaller bracket with 10 cm against the wall and 12.5 cm under the shelf? (Instinctively, 12.5 under a 20 cm deep shelf seems a bit small, but you never know...?)

You "can" turn them however you want, but they won't be as strong. It will probably work in your case, even with the smaller one, shoes aren't that heavy, but it won't be possible to step on the shelf.
