Hello,

I have a concrete staircase that has fallen into terrible condition, probably because we salted it quite heavily during the winter months (which we have now learned we shouldn't do).

Last weekend, I removed the large blocks that were on top and cleared all the loose sand, and then I used the pressure washer to remove most of what was loose.
Concrete staircase with visible wear and cracks, partially cleaned. Metal railing and brick wall in the background. Tools and wooden planks nearby.

Worn outdoor concrete stairs with visible damage and missing blocks, surrounded by a metal railing. Steps are in need of repair or replacement.
The question now is, can it be saved? The plan is to build a form around it and cast the steps, and then put the stone slabs back on. Is it realistic and sustainable, or is the staircase beyond all salvation and should be demolished? If I demolish it, I will probably build a wooden staircase instead.

Any advice?

Best regards,
Steffo

Pour on!
Try to find some type of "sealant" to mix into the concrete so that water cannot get in.
