Blueprint of a 1.5-story Nässjöhus house from 1982, showing various elevations with measurements and labels. Blueprint of a two-story house, with marked walls for potential removal; shows living areas, kitchen, garage, and structural sections. Hello!
We have bought this house and are going to renovate it! We are thinking of tearing down the walls that are marked to create an open floor plan but do not know if they are load-bearing or not! 1.5-story house built in 1982 Nässjöhus!
Thanks in advance

I have a similar question about our house, hope it's okay to post here instead of starting a new thread.

The wall we want to tear down is the one between the kitchen and living room.
House from '64 built of wood.
Feels like it should be completely fine but might be best to ask :)

Thankful for answers :)

  • Blueprint of a 1964 wooden house showing floor plans with kitchen and living room, handwritten notes in red, arrows, and dimensions mentioned.
  • Floor plan and sectional drawing of a 1964 wooden house, with marked areas between the kitchen and living room. Displayed measurements in square meters and elevation.
@Mousab: The red-marked walls are not primarily load-bearing. However, there must be beams in the ceiling that run along the length of the house. They are not shown in the drawings but could be supported by parts of the red-marked walls. This should be clarified first.
@sjo0911: The wall between the kitchen and living room is not load-bearing.

Thanks, according to the seller's daughter, there are iron beams on the ceiling. The seller died in September, and the estate sold the house :)

@Mousab: As long as you consider the existence of the steel beams when taking down the walls, it should be fine.

The new drawings significantly change the conditions. The house is built with volume elements (which are different from each other). The transverse walls are load-bearing. Replacing them with beams is not a simple task. It also goes somewhat against the idea of volume elements. It is also difficult to find suitable positions for the necessary columns. I suggest you lower the level of ambition in terms of the number of walls you want to remove. You need help from someone who can see the house on-site and have access to all the drawings. Unfortunately, but it was good that it was clarified.

Thank you so much
I will hire a konstruktör to look and draw
