Hello

How do you calculate the maximum load for an existing roof structure/truss?
I think that if I have the dimensions of the rafters, struts, collar ties, span, etc., it should be possible.
The previous owner changed the roof covering from clay tiles to concrete tiles, and in my stairwell where there are no struts, and thus the span of the rafter is greater, the roof sags.

Regards
Richard

You must have the entire geometry ready, meaning not just dimensions but also distance measurements and slopes. Normally, snow loads etc. mean more for the design than the difference between clay and concrete tiles. In a traditional truss, the collar tie and struts help to reduce the dimensions of the rafters. The roof pitch is important as it determines how much of the roof loads affect the rafters across their width and along their length.
