Hello, as the title suggests, I am going to build a new house and it's almost turnkey, but I have always wanted to have a secret room. My idea is that it should be about 10 square meters!
Any tips on how I should do it? I don't want it to be included in the floor plan either. The room, as I said, should not "exist."
Some tips would be wonderful
Best regards,
M

Cool idea! I think it's easy to miss rooms in a house if you're not familiar with it.
If we're talking about a rectangular block, it might be difficult, but a house with an irregular shape makes things much easier. Draw both a floor plan and an elevation, and exterior walls from the outside, and let these differ from each other. Then ensure to optically confuse the brain. In a U-shaped house, the "wings" look like real wings even if they only protrude a few meters in reality. Draw a bit and you'll find a smart solution! Things should be hidden where people can see them.
There must be lots of uses for a secret room. A music room for the Hi-Fi enthusiast who doesn't want to admit the stereo cost more than the house, cannabis cultivation for those who want organic and locally grown, a doll room for her who in her mind always remains five years old... d^_^b

It did give a bit of an "Austrian kidnapping dungeon" vibe... but if you don't want it on the floor plan and other things, you will probably have to build it yourself later. However, you can prepare by drawing it in the floor plan in such a way that the room you intend to build is just a "partition." It also depends a lot on how the rest of the house looks. The important thing is that you don't see important reference points while looking at the hidden room...
Yeah, it's a bit hard to explain... will have to draw a picture and upload it later!

My thought is to build half the house with a basement and maybe divide that half, is that an idea? The basement should not be included in the floor plan!
Then I've encountered a dilemma about whether to build a turnkey house or a kit house hmm
Thanks for all the suggestions, but feel free to come with more ;D
Best regards

Funny how differently people see it, I personally get the feeling of a cozy "koja" to hide in. The simplest (?) way would probably be to do it in the basement area, the coolest would be if you could manage to do it above ground hidden among the regular rooms. But that probably requires the living area to be larger than usual.
A "secret" room is nothing strange, right? I myself plan to eventually create a hidden door in the basement that will lead to a more or less concealed room of about 10 m2.
What will be inside? Well, two chesterfield armchairs, a small mahogany table, an ashtray, wooden floors, wainscoting on the walls, and shelves full of whisky and cigars...
(I already have the whisky, about 70 bottles... It's the other stuff that's going to be more challenging...)

Our children wanted a secret room, and when we spoke with Myresjöhus (whom we ultimately didn't buy the house from), the salesperson there had a ready solution - it turned out this isn’t such an unusual request... In our case, we have a traditional floor plan upstairs with a family room and four bedrooms (two on each side of the family room). Between two of the bedrooms, there is a space with no door from the family room. Essentially, it’s a large closet, but it serves as a "secret room" for the children. In the same way, if space allows, you can create a room with a door only accessible from another room, between two other rooms in a row. I don't think many casual visitors would ponder over a few missing square meters or believe it's actually a walk-in closet where no one else has access.
Actually, you can compare it a bit to a "safe-room," which is much more common abroad than here at home. The difference is that in the "secret" room you probably don't need to design walls according to protection classes, etc., as you often do in a safe-room.
Feel free to Google "safe room" and you'll find several examples!

Yes, of course I'm going to kidnap someone and let her live there her whole life, definitely not!!!!
I was thinking more of a room with 2 chairs, a table, a beer and spirits fridge, and 2 armchairs, a TV, and being able to sit in there with a friend, watch some motorsports, or play a little on the Xbox=) I think it will probably be in the basement, building a basement of about 40 square meters, taking off 10 for the room, maybe a bit more, we'll see, and building a wall, and the room is done, I guess that's easiest, and the basement won't be on the floor plan =D

Secret rooms are so cool! I remember when a friend and I were at her parents' summer cottage one day when they were having a party. We were amazed that the parents would go down to the basement empty-handed and come up with beer and liquor each time, without us seeing even a single can in the basement. (Our plan was to "borrow" a few cans, hence our eager search.)
After walking around the basement for a while, we agreed there was some space missing. After a very thorough search, we found a closet with shoeprints on the "floor" and just one jacket hanging in it, which we obviously had to investigate further. When you pressed the floorboard, the back of the closet opened, and we entered the secret room! Besides all the beer, there was also a high-quality moonshine apparatus stored there. (This was a couple of years ago before illegal spirits became so cheap that it's hardly worth distilling yourself.)
Absolutely the coolest thing ever!

Yes, you see it's just so cool =D A secret room I guess most men would want haha : ) but how did the door work, was it carefully built I mean if you hadn't seen the shoe print do you think you would have found the room then?
I think it's really cool to have such a secret room, I've always wanted one like that and of course not to lock in but more to escape and be able to have a cold beer and watch TV, it adds a bit of coziness to it all with ;D
