(The trip to Poland is booked for my part, going at the end of July with the Nynäshamn ferry for a combined holiday and shopping trip!)
Hi

Do you know exactly where you're going??
Do you speak Polish??
It helps a lot if you've checked where you're going, what to see, etc. When I was there a month ago, I had a colleague with me who speaks Polish. We were there for just six hours, but since he knows the language and we knew roughly where to go, this six-hour trip was much more productive than I expected. We didn't go just to shop but mostly to "scout the area." My next trip will be in the fall, and then I will know where to go, roughly what the things cost, etc. Then it will be a van with a trailer.
Sure, you can go and search yourself, but you won't find many who speak English. Maybe German works better but I don't think so.

Anyone have a link to a Polish building materials or tile dealer?

Well....I looked at the "Praktiker" flyer and it doesn't seem as cheap as I thought......the cheaper tiles cost ~30Euro/sqm.....you can find that everywhere in Sweden.....laminate flooring costs around 24Euro.....doesn't sound cheap either....hmmm....

EDIT: Or is it some type of Polish currency in the ads? A regular lawnmower can't cost 1100Euro?

Just read this:

the prices are stated in Polish currency, zloty.
(1 zloty = approx. 2 SEK)

Does anyone know if "Einhell" is a good brand for power tools?

Einhell is a German budget brand. Quality-wise, I think it's quite OK in relation to the price! ;)

Hello
Here is a link where you can buy building materials at reasonable prices, all suppliers in the Baltics are reliable as they want to export. www.wood-me.com, there you can search in English from building materials to complete houses
Best regards
Swede

What a great link!! Many thanks for that!!!

Hello!
New here - planning to build new. Planning to acquire various materials in Poland. Does anyone know a smart way to get the stuff home, like appliances, IKEA kitchen, wardrobes but also tiles etc.? Rent a small truck myself or is there a transport company?

Hi

So now I have been to Poland and checked. It went like this:

Ferry from Nynäshamn 24/5 at 18:00. Arrived in Gdansk at 12:00 the next day.
A meeting with the aerated concrete dealer. A middle-aged couple who were very hospitable and pleasant. They were both educated engineers and had long experience in the industry.
Didn't even want a down payment for the order and drove us around to a few places.
Had some opinions on the order of work tools. They thought I had ordered too much of some and too little of others.
After an hour or so, two builders with experience in building with aerated concrete arrived. I had some questions about the workflow and they had some very valuable tips and suggestions. They would also be submitting a quote for plastering the house.
Did you ever get a quote for plastering the house? We are thinking along the same lines as you.

Regards

Hi

No, not yet.
However, I spoke with a Polish "builder" here in Sweden and he mentioned about 4000:-/week/person. He thought that two people would be enough and that they could finish it in a week (200 m2).
So 8000:-
Then there's the cost for materials (no idea how much), scaffolding, and equipment.

Since I haven't had the chance to check these prices, you might want to take them with a grain of salt.

Praktiker - Poland-Gdansk
[link]
Check out the photo... does it say "transport gratis"??
In Swedish, that is! Does Praktiker deliver stuff to Sweden?

Has anyone been there and can inform what it's about?
(Anders, who is interested in 100-130 sqm of nice and cheap paving stones)
Could it perhaps be that the word exists in both Polish and Swedish maybe :)

Hello

I have read quite a bit in the forum about building materials in, among others, Poland, Estonia, and Latvia. But haven't seen anything about prices for windows. Has anyone bought windows in these countries?? Or have tips on any websites???

:o Wow, shopping in Tysklan/Poland is exactly what I've been pondering, and then you find a "gold thread" like this. Tons of info to dig through.

Thanks for that ;D
