Building in exposed pipes in the ceiling

In the process of renovating two bedrooms. In one of the rooms, there are exposed pipes running across two walls on the ceiling.

How do I best conceal these?
I think the easiest way is to frame it and then put on boards, then spackle and paint.
But I'm wondering if it would be a smoother result if I use construction board instead. Simple and convenient
What do you think?
hm simple question, I know, but I dislike spackling

Just building board without studs underneath? Or plywood instead of drywall on the studs?
