Hello!
We have a nice modern stove at home, but after renovating the house to increase open spaces, I don't want to place this stove against the chimney wall since I think it will be in the way. Previously, it was in our newly created bedroom, so it's not an option to put it back there.
Therefore, my thoughts have been that instead of reinstalling our stove, I want to open up a hole directly into the chimney and install an insert. Shouldn't that work? According to a craftsman, the chimney is not part of the house's structural support but stands alone.
I would love to get some thoughts and suggestions on this and, of course, PICTURES and prices if someone has done this before.
