I was planning to build a new stair railing. It will be attached to the wall on one side. I was thinking of screwing/gluing the posts to the floor/chipboard with dowel screws.
But, I want "horizontal" metal pipes, so the question is how best to attach them to the posts? Is it by doing as shown on the right part of the image? That is, by combining the pipe with an additional wooden piece and inserting it between the posts?

I was thinking of having 70x70 posts with either 1 meter in between or 1.50. Maybe 1.50 is too far apart though?

Oh yes, I only got a G in art....:)

A neater solution would be to drill holes into the posts where you insert the pipes, avoiding the extra "piece of wood". You simply have to erect the posts as you attach the pipes.
