Building a new wall. Attachment to existing drywall?
Hello all experts!
I'm working on a project to put up a wall in our living room to create a new room. The existing walls are drywall on wooden studs, and the new wall will be OSB and drywall on both sides. What I'm wondering is if/how to best attach the first and last wall studs to the existing walls? I guess there's an overriding risk of cracking in the corners if it's not done, but how do I do this best when there are no studs behind the drywall exactly where the new wall is supposed to stand? Do I need to take down a piece of the drywall to get a stud behind it, or is there an easier, but good solution? Glue/anchors? Grateful for any tips.

You attach the stud to the wall. Use construction adhesive if that's the case. Personally, I use metal stud which requires short one-layer wood screws just fine. With a wooden stud, you drill an 8mm hole in the stud and use 6x70 or 80 screws into the drywall. Screw gently and it will work out.M Marcus Ericsson said:Hello all knowledgeable people!

Plaster anchor, maybe?
