According to the attached sketch (not to scale...), we want to make a new small wall so that we can create a corner to place a stove against. The wall will extend 90 degrees out from the chimney, and on the backside of it, a kitchen counter will go. I have a few questions that I hope I can get help with :)

1) Suggestions on what materials to use for building - bricks, multiplates, lightweight concrete blocks, or something else? We will have a stove quite close to it.

2) We have a wooden house with wooden floors, which hardly counts as a stable foundation... What should be placed under the wall so that the materials "match" each other?

3) How does one fix the wall? Hopefully, no one will manage to run into it, of course ;) but how should it be fixed? (It will be about 50 cm wide). Is it enough to fix it to the ceiling and floor? Or should it be fixed to the chimney with something like angle irons?
