Hello! I wanted to check with all the knowledgeable people here about the rules when it comes to enclosing a chimney breast. We have just become homeowners and we are looking at different options to conceal/improve a chimney breast that runs through the kitchen from the floor below. The idea is to remove the beadboard on the other walls and to close up the doorway in the picture. And possibly put some kind of panels around the chimney breast. But what do the regulations say about this? Attached is a picture for you to better understand what I mean 😊

Is the chimney used or not? If it's not in use, you can do pretty much whatever you want. If it is in use, you need to start thinking about non-combustible materials and stuff like that.
Okay, thanks for the response😊 It will probably be used occasionally, but it is not used as the primary heat source during the winter. Rather, it will be used a little for "cozy fires" and possibly for support if it gets terribly cold outside. But geothermal heating is the primary heat source.SågspånPappspikEternit said:
Ask the technician who comes to do the fire protection inspection or, if it's more urgent, the one the municipality has contracted for chimney sweeping.E Elfenbenet said:
