I'm in the process of calculating the construction of a garage/shed that, in the first step (preferably already by this fall), would just be a carport, meaning no walls, just a roof on posts.
I don't want to build this with impregnated posts since I intend to build walls in the future and possibly insulate parts of the structure. But could I build with painted lumber that could be insulated later? Because I also don't want to build with bare wood and have it get wet and rotten during the winter.
What type of paint should I use to ensure it is non-toxic and okay to insulate but still protects the wood during the winter/fall?

Printed poles that have been standing for a few years are not a problem to build into a garage if you don't plan to turn it into a guest cabin/teenage residence later on. Once the poles have dried and aired for a couple of years, the risk is non-existent.

But what if I want to isolate part of the building later for a hobby/guest cabin? I don't want to make any mistakes now that I'll regret in a few years.
How would it work to buy raw studs that you paint? Is it as dangerous to build in/insulate around painted studs as it is with treated studs?
