Hello,

I need some tips and advice...

I am going to build an extra room in our living room; we live in a condominium.

Blueprint sketch of a room layout with a small angled corner, part of a discussion about building an extra room in a living room with existing features.

I plan to build the walls on the existing wooden floor (floating wooden floor), also with a small angle on the room. There is water-based underfloor heating embedded under the floor, and I would preferably avoid lifting the floor.

I was thinking of doing it the following way:

1. Steel studs on the floor which I will attach with short metal screws, rubber strip between wooden floor and steel. (Double-sided tape and wooden stud might be preferable?)
2. In the ceiling, I will use either wood or steel stud. I'm not sure what's best, but it is a gypsum ceiling.
3. Otherwise, I will use wooden studs.

Grateful for a few tips and advice. Maybe someone has done something similar.

Best regards,
Johan

You can fasten the roof and floor beams with the vertical wall studs. Cut the wall studs long enough so that you have to hammer them into place.
