I have an ugly fuse box in the hallway that I plan to hide with a simple box
I'm very new to building things but find it fun.
I need tips on materials for the box that ideally shouldn't be too heavy.
Thought about MDF or plywood, what do you think?
I initially thought of attaching the box to the wall around the fuse cabinet but then reconsidered.
What if you just make a box without a back that slides over the fuse cabinet.
To keep it still, I thought of putting foam on the inside that presses against the fuse cabinet itself so the box stays in place. What do you think of that idea?
What thickness should the material be in your opinion? You have to be able to screw the box together, so not too thin I suppose? Or is glue enough?

When I lived in an apartment, I had the same "problem." It was temporarily solved by taping together a box out of cardboard, and I think we wallpapered it as well. It turned out so well that it never became a real box. It might not be suitable for you, but it's an option anyway.
