I am planning to build a stair landing/small deck with the dimensions 1500mm x 3000mm, height 800mm.

I want the construction to be as open as possible underneath, to create a floating feeling.

It will stand on six posts in two rows of three. Initially, there was supposed to be a 3000mm beam per row and then 1500mm joists with 600mm spacing and 28mm decking.

Now I'm considering removing the beam in the following way:

- Increase the dimension of the joists to 195mm or 220mm.
- Add rim joists with joist hangers.
- Screw in a row of noggins.
- Decrease the spacing to 500mm so that every other joist is attached to a post.

I am pretty sure it will be sturdy enough. It is so overbuilt that there isn't any real risk. I'm mostly wondering if this is the right way to do it.
