Breaking up parquet to put up a new interior wall?
Hello
I want to set up a new interior wall to divide the living room. The entire floor is made of parquet as a floating floor. Do I have to break/cut the parquet where I want to place the floor joists, or can I secure them through the existing floor?
Does anyone know the best way to cut out the parquet for the joists if it turns out to be necessary?

Shouldn't it be possible to fix the partition wall through the parquet with steel nails or something like that? It shouldn't matter if the parquet becomes rigid just there, as it can still expand towards the other walls in the two rooms that are created.
Use a circular saw or router to make two slots. Near the wall where you can't reach with the machine, cut with a handsaw or backsaw.
Consider the following if you're attaching the rule through the parquet.
- Do you have heavy furniture at the other end of the room? The floor will then be fixed on two sides and will likely crack somewhere in between during the winter season.
- Soft underlayment for soundproofing gets compressed... It shouldn't matter much, the floor will be pressed down 2-3 mm closest to the wall.
- Sound will propagate from one room to another through the parquet.
