Hello!

I have about 35 m2 of Ytong that I need to mill down approximately 50mm.

A hell of a job that I don't really know which machine would handle it?

I tried with one like this, but it removes far too little:

Is there something good you can recommend here? I want something that removes a lot of material at once, for example, a flex won't work.

Best regards, Erik Wedlund

Yes, I have thought about that too, but I was wondering if there's something even better that sizzles right away. There are large areas to manage.

A
It sounds like a crazy project, what is the purpose of it?

Is it an exterior wall with a load-bearing function? If ytong is milled down by as much as 50mm, the load-bearing capacity will be significantly reduced and will tend to crack. You should probably explain why this action is necessary, as well as what might be applied on the outside later.

I'm aware of all that.

Barely any load on the walls and 350 thick today

OK but what is the point of trimming off 50 mm. No answer to that.

The building must become smaller.

AHA maybe then it has become too large in area and received a setback from the municipality's measurements. It's unfortunate with such things, but if they accept it, you're lucky that you can reduce it a bit. Then the best approach would be to cut grooves with a maximum of about 10 cm apart (best with 50 mm then the piece pops out easily) and start horizontally at the bottom, 50 mm deep with a blade and chisel away the middle part. It's a really crappy job and a lot of dust flying around, but if you have to do it to achieve the results, then what can you do?

It turned out to be a Hilti Slotting Cutter with a 60mm depth and 50mm width, it sucked but went pretty fast. Ended up with about 10 240-liter bags of Ytong waste :P
