Considering building a kitchen bench from some low kitchen frames. I was thinking of using a granite top to match the rest of the kitchen, but the kitchen salesman thought it was completely absurd and that I should have a warm, nice wooden top.

This bench will be placed by a radiator, so I think it should feel warm anyway, otherwise, I can always add a stylish sheepskin, and that granite is easier to keep clean + more durable.

What do you think?

Even a 25-degree granite slab feels cold, so a cushion or fur will likely be needed. If the bench is near the stove/hob or sink, it might not be so practical.

What do you think is better when comparing a laminated board and a real wood board with stain and varnish?

Real wood probably gives a more solid feel, but there is likely no problem with laminate either.

Laminate flooring feels much colder to walk on than parquet and wooden floors.
