Hi,

searched through the forum and saw that some tried using beadboard instead of tiles above the sink and stove.

Question:

How does it work after a couple of years?
Should you lacquer or glaze over the panel?

Any other tips?

Grateful for answers.

Above the sink, there are no real issues. We had painted with linseed oil paint, which is sufficient for the surface to become water-resistant and easy to maintain. What you should consider is whether to place the panel on the countertop or not. If you let it go down behind (which I actually think is prettier), you get small gaps at the bead where both water and crumbs can run down. These should be sealed with something.

However, above the stove, there will be more stains, so this time we will also choose tiles.

Hello!

We just installed beadboard above the sink in our new kitchen. I think it looks great. We had it painted with semi-matte gloss 40 cabinetry paint. We put a small molding at the top against the ceiling and at the bottom by the sink. I will take pictures soon so you can see.

Buy Branden's pärlspont board it makes it easier! No knots that need sealing hand-painted looks like "genuine" pärlspont but better and more stylish!

Thank you so much!

Then it will be above the counter to start with.
And probably there will be sealing at the pärlan.

Looking forward to pictures.

Thanks again

bye

No, it hardly becomes like real pärlspont but somewhat similar anyway :D

You choose the "advanced mode" when writing the post, and smileys will appear.

Is it that mdf variant? Just painted one like that in a kitchen, I couldn't tell it apart from real beadboard and it won't crack in the future either. möcke möcke bra

We have panelskiva. www.panelskivan.se and it looks exactly like real pärlspont (if not nicer). We chose to have it brush-painted.

Here are some pictures of the beadboard in our new kitchen, which follows a modern country style. As mentioned, we used panel boards and are super satisfied with it. The walls and beadboard are painted with the color Ömhet from Beckers.

  • Modern rustic kitchen with white beadboard panelling painted in Beckers' Ömhet, featuring a wooden countertop, sink, and decorative wine glasses on a shelf.
  • Modern country-style kitchen with painted beadboard paneling in Beckers Ömhet color. Displayed are tealights in glass holders on wooden countertop.
Thanks for posting the pictures. It turned out nice. What did you seal with at the trim?

And I'm wondering what kind of faucet do you have? Is it from IKEA?

Thanks

Yes, it's Ikea's faucet. What did we seal with? Well, no idea but I'll ask the carpenter tomorrow. I think a soft sealant behind the trim.
