beadboard above sink and stove
Hi,
searched through the forum and saw that some tried using beadboard instead of tiles above the sink and stove.
Question:
How does it work after a couple of years?
Should you lacquer or glaze over the panel?
Any other tips?
Grateful for answers.

Above the sink, there are no real issues. We had painted with linseed oil paint, which is sufficient for the surface to become water-resistant and easy to maintain. What you should consider is whether to place the panel on the countertop or not. If you let it go down behind (which I actually think is prettier), you get small gaps at the bead where both water and crumbs can run down. These should be sealed with something.
However, above the stove, there will be more stains, so this time we will also choose tiles.

Hello!
We just installed beadboard above the sink in our new kitchen. I think it looks great. We had it painted with semi-matte gloss 40 cabinetry paint. We put a small molding at the top against the ceiling and at the bottom by the sink. I will take pictures soon so you can see.

Is it that mdf variant? Just painted one like that in a kitchen, I couldn't tell it apart from real beadboard and it won't crack in the future either. möcke möcke bracarra said:
We have panelskiva. www.panelskivan.se and it looks exactly like real pärlspont (if not nicer). We chose to have it brush-painted.
Yes, it's Ikea's faucet. What did we seal with? Well, no idea but I'll ask the carpenter tomorrow. I think a soft sealant behind the trim.
