Hi!

I'm new here, so bear with me :)

My family and I have bought a house, siporex, built in '63. There's a very large attic with roof trusses here and there (I am not familiar with construction terms at all). I am now going to become a man and furnish the attic with everything that battens, insulation, etc., involve. I wonder if there is a good book for this? One with pictures that describe how, where, and when (preferably why as well) you should do different things.

Does anyone have any good tips and where I can buy that book?

Grateful for answers!!

Maybe you can look among study literature; among others, I know that Liber publishes study literature for construction education. These books provide a thorough explanation of both building materials and methods! Otherwise, there's "Gör Det Själv" with both a website and subscriptions. Have you looked around online?

Hello and welcome, first of all.

Secondly, you should probably consult a structural engineer to determine what you can do with the attic before you start doing anything. There's a risk that the attic isn't designed to support the weight of a floor with furniture and such. Not very likely, but better to check before starting something.

I don't have any particularly great book in stock, but to boast a little, this forum is a gigantic encyclopedia. Look both here in the construction technique section and in the roof & attic section, and you'll likely find a lot of information to get you started.

Bought this book for my partner and it became his "bible." It contains most things, and for what you can't find, you can get answers here :) bought it at Bauhaus for 249:-. but I've also seen them in several other places though about 100:- more expensive so...

I bow and thank you for taking the time. As it is now, the attic has been 1/3 furnished, meaning one-third has been inhabited for 5 years already. But I never even thought that I should check if it can withstand further furnishing. As for the book, I read a little about it last night, and I think I can expand my book collection by 100% by buying that book.
