Asbestos-cement facade
How much insulation you need depends on how well-insulated it is already and what type of heating system you have today! (Okay, most houses from this era are admittedly relatively poorly insulated) but if you're planning to space out 90mm, you'll have to move windows and doors, etc., so we're talking about a bit larger renovation here. Those I know who've done this have settled for 45mm studs and have thus avoided the work of removing the asbestos cement as well as moving doors+windows, etc. (I myself only have 95mm + asphalt felt in the walls and still a total electricity consumption of 17,000 kwh/year for 147m2, so you probably don't need to over-insulate!)MathiasS said:
Speaking of Eternit, even though it doesn't quite belong in this thread. In the ceiling of one of the rooms in my basement, there are tiles that are 1x1 meter, about 0.5 cm thick. It's probably an old boiler room? Then it's very likely eternit that is on the ceiling as fire protection. Since I am a real tough guy (=brain-dead), I've taken down two of them without any respiratory protection. It went quite well, but they cracked in a few places, which probably means that an invisible cloud of asbestos dust was created, which I inhaled, so now I just need to lie down and wait for lung cancer, the lung disease COPD, and who knows what else I will suffer from :'(
8) You can calmly carry on living. The risk that you have contracted asbestosis is very minimal. Such tiles were in the boiler room of one of the houses we looked at. Eternit was placed on the ceiling because it could withstand heat so well.
It's quite doubtful that you would get lung cancer from just having handled them. One has read up a bit now that people have begun to pay attention to the eternit houses! =)

Lived in a row of townhouses a few years ago, which had asbestos cement panels. The properties changed owners and the new owner wanted to spruce up the houses. They installed battens and wood panels over the asbestos cement, I don't recall it being particularly dusty or the panels cracking. However, they did extend out a bit so the windows were difficult to open, but that was fixed when they replaced the windows a bit later 
We now own a house with asbestos cement panels and are thinking of installing battens and panels over the existing panels. The panels insulate very well, so why remove them? By putting the new panels over the existing ones, we probably won't need to add extra insulation, as that would make the house too airtight. Now, however, we need to agree on a color for the house with the paneling. I want yellow and my partner wants something like Siljans blue. My proposal was to have it yellow for 10 years, then repaint it blue for 10 years, and then let the future decide the next color
