Was at acquaintances' home yesterday and noticed that their rustic moldings were installed differently than mine. At home, I have placed the rounder thinner side inward towards the door or window (does that make sense?) but at the acquaintances' place, the moldings were oriented the other way. I have also seen this at someone else's place. I assume there isn't a right or wrong way, just a matter of taste, but how have others done it? Ulf

Your acquaintances probably just don't have a clue and put them backwards.

Carpenters who built their house but they might not have known either...

They might have thought it looked better too?

The thinner part should face the door/window, but on the other hand, so-called allmogefoder have no historical background whatsoever. They were invented in modern times.

As long as the flat part is against the wall, I think one can consider it not wrong, but the most common is probably that the thin part is against the door.
